Tailoring a Solution to Access Critical Data

The client, an AMLAW 100 law firm, hired a well known generalist litigation support firm to process data for an IP/Patent matter.

Unfortunately, upon review, the Assistant General Counsel for Litigation found that the initial data deliveries contained a high number of blank placeholder pages and a large number of instances of misidentified files.

There also appeared to be a number file types that the incumbent was not equipped to handle.

The Assistant General Counsel for Litigation asked Control Discovery to assist with the case.

Control Discovery found that the incumbent had no documentation to tell it specifically what file types it was capable of processing.

Over a period of a few weeks, Control Discovery documented the file types the incumbent was capable of processing.

We also analyzed several hundred gigabytes of UNIX and Windows client data. As a result, we identified more than 1,100 file types unique to this particular client's business operations.

Control Discovery then used its internal e-discovery automation technology to preprocess some 900 unique file types into standard formats, preserving relevant metadata, so that the incumbent could handle the TIFF-imaging portion of the job reliably.

As a result, the client gained access to a significant volume of critical data that the other firm was not equipped to handle.
